Opportunity: Trainee Technician/CAD Technician

Our client is an independent civil and structural engineering consultancy providing design services to a wide variety of public and private sector clients across Scotland.

Position Overview:

Our client is looking for a Trainee Technician/CAD Technician to support the preparation of designs within their Inverness office including site survey work, preparations of drawings and specifications and interfacing with clients, contractors, and other designers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Responsible to Partners and Design Leads for the preparation of civil and/or structural designs, drawings, and schedules.
• Supports responding to queries from other designers, contractors, and clients as appropriate.
• Assisting in undertaking site surveys and visits.
• Ensures company procedures and relevant codes, specifications, and legislation including CDM Regulations are followed.
• Supports project team in areas of particular knowledge or experience.
• Support in administration tasks

Qualifications:

• Minimum 2 Highers (or equivalent) including Maths.
• Qualification in Civil Engineering (HND, HNC, BSc, BEng) is advantageous.
• Computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Preference for experience in Computer Aided Draughting (CAD) packages (not essential).
• Strong communication skills including written and presentational.
• Ability to work within a team with minimum supervision.
• Full driving license or willingness to attain.
