What is your current role at Global Highland? |
My main role at Global Highland is Recruitment Manager, which involves supporting the Business Manager in the day to day running of the team. Supporting the Team individually with coaching and career development. Additionally, I also manage a successful and growing Construction desk, supporting clients & candidates alike across Scotland. |
Previous work experience/ Career path? |
I started my career in the construction Industry at a Building & Timber Merchant as a sales co-ordinator, later progressing to an Account Manager. Over the Years I then worked in various industry’s but all my roles had a focus on Sales, Relationship Building & Customer Service. The latter 15 years of my career have been within the recruitment Industry, initially within the Healthcare sector, before transitioning into Engineering, Construction and Infrastructure. |
Why do you work in recruitment and what is one thing you love about your role? |
Recruitment is rarely a Job you choose but while registering with a Recruitment Agency in Glasgow many years ago, I was asked whether I had considered working in Recruitment and shortly after I had an interview for a recruitment role. The one thing I love about my role is the people you meet from all walks of life, whether its candidates you’re working with to secure their next career move or the client who needs a key role within their own business filled. It’s a role that’s always busy, sometimes challenging but rewarding. |
What do you do in your spare time? Do you have any Personal Goals that you are hoping to achieve in the next 5 years? |
Outside of work, I don’t tend to do much but I do enjoy Reading and I’m a big film buff. One of my goals over the next 5 years is to be instrumental in the continued growth of Global Highland, which to me includes increasing the headcount within each division and who knows, maybe even another branch. |

The core value which means most to me is “Demonstrate Integrity & Respect” because regardless of whether you’re speaking with a blue collar worker or the CEO of a national client, we’re all just trying to make a living and its important to me that were Honest & Respectful to whomever were dealing with. |
