    Description

    Shift Process Operator – Inverness
    Location: Inverness, Highlands
Hours: 40.83 hours per week, rotational shift pattern (including night shifts)
    Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent

Global Highland are proud to be partnering with a leading production facility in Inverness to recruit an experienced Shift Process Operator. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys a structured yet hands-on role within a highly respected and well-established manufacturing environment.

    About the Role:

Working as part of a small and dedicated operational team, the successful candidate will play a key role in the production process, ensuring the consistent delivery of high-quality product through adherence to operating procedures and schedules.

This is a shift-based role (including night shifts), and flexibility is essential—particularly during the busy barley harvest period when annual leave restrictions apply. The role involves lone working during night shifts, and will require a high standard of health, safety, hygiene, and quality awareness throughout.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Carry out processing tasks related to grain handling, including steeping, germination, kilning, and drying, in accordance with instructions.
    • Operate and monitor grain intake, dressing, and transfer equipment between vessels and storage.
    • Manage product movement including malt and barley, ensuring accurate and timely processing.
    • Operate specialist equipment including the pelletiser and wastewater treatment plant.
    • Maintain a high level of hygiene and cleanliness across multiple plant areas.
    • Accurately complete all required process records, quality forms, and logs.
    • Proactively report any anomalies, faults, or issues to site and engineering teams.
    • Follow all company safety policies and participate in relevant training.
    • Report hazards, near misses, and incidents in line with site protocols.
    • Wear all required PPE and comply with the site’s zero tolerance policy on drugs and alcohol.

    About You:

    Essential:

    • Strong awareness of health, safety, and quality practices
    • Able to work independently with good initiative, especially during lone working shifts
    • Effective communicator and reliable team player
    • Detail-focused with a commitment to high standards
    • Flexible and able to adapt to varying operational needs
    • Motivated, positive attitude with a willingness to learn

    Desirable:

    • Experience in a production or process plant environment
    • Understanding of grain transfer equipment and automated control systems (PLC)
    • Forklift truck experience (or willingness to train)
    • Formal training or certification in malting fundamentals
