    Are you a Health and Safety professional looking for a new opportunity?

    Are you relatively new into your Health and Safety career and looking for a role which offers progression and development?

    You will play a vital role in maintaining and improving the health, safety, welfare and environmental standards across our client’s operation. You will be part of a small team reporting to the Safety Director.

    Responsibilities:

    • Conduct regular health and safety audits across various locations to identify potential risks and compliance issue.
      • Carry out inspections and audits
      • Circulate reports / actions
      • Monitor progress to closing actions
      • Assist with the development and implementation of health and safety policies and procedures to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements
        • Support the Safey Manager / Director to
          • Identify changes to regulations, approved codes of practice and industry best standards
          • Ensure policies and procedures meet the regulatory requirements
          • Improve reporting and investigation procedures
          • Monitor and improve effectiveness of procedures and processes by
            • Safety Audits
            • Safety Inspections
            • Toolbox talks
            • Personal contact with staff and clients
            • Carry out Risk Assessments and Method Statements
              • This is almost always a team effort with safety and technical experts working together
              • Carry out COSHH Assessments
                • Training will be provided
                • Provide training to employees and management teams on health and safety
                • Assist the Safety Manager / Director to develop and improve the existing training packages
                • Present the 2 yearly Safety Management System training package to all staff
                • Present training packages on PPE/COSHH/Noise etc
                • Investigate accidents and incidents, document findings and recommend corrective actions
                • Work within our clients current procedures to establish root cause, corrective and preventative actions
                • Monitor actions to closure
                • Stay up to date with changes in health and safety legislation and ensure the business remains in full compliance
                • Personal study / reading / website trawls / attend seminars
                • Collaborate with management to create and maintain a safety-conscious culture within the organisation
                • Mostly this requires “spreading the word” by personal contact with staff and clients
                • Suggest new and improved ways to guide safety culture and affect behaviour
                • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of health and safety initiatives and suggest improvements
                • Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports related to health and safety activities
                • Admin duties related to safety, health and welfare – record keeping / filing etc
                • All online/computer storage
                • Assist the Safety Manager / Director to produce safety reports / statistics for staff, clients, management team, authorities and company board
                • Mostly collating information already held
                • Some research required

    Qualifications/Person:

    • A recognised health and safety qualification, ideally NEBOSH certificate
    • Minimum 1 year experience in a health and safety role
    • Extensive knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices
    • Excellent communication and training skills
    • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
    • Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety
    • Ideally, have experience of ISO 14001 and 45001
