    Location: Inverness, Highlands
Hours: Averaging 40 hours per week
    Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent

Global Highland are working closely with a well-established manufacturing client in the Inverness area to recruit a Day Shift Operator to join their operational team. This is an excellent opportunity to secure a hands-on role within a long-standing and reputable business involved in high-volume production and processing.

    About the Role:

This position is shift-based, following a three-week rotation of two weeks on 12-hour day shifts (8am–8pm) and one week of standard day shifts (8am–4:30pm). There will also be a requirement for occasional night shift cover during the peak harvest season (approximately six weeks from August to early October), as well as covering holidays and sickness where necessary.

The successful candidate will be involved in a broad range of operational tasks including monitoring and managing production processes, cleaning and hygiene duties, and operating various site equipment. The role involves lone working, manual handling, and working in confined spaces – full training will be provided.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Adhere strictly to all company and legislative health and safety procedures, including PPE usage and the company’s zero-tolerance policy on drugs and alcohol.
    • Carry out processing operations including raw material handling, drying, conditioning, and storage in line with production instructions.
    • Liaise with engineering and supervisory staff to report faults and support routine operational checks.
    • Maintain site and equipment cleanliness through scheduled cleaning tasks (including power washing, vacuuming, and sweeping).
    • Complete all quality control records and production logs accurately and in a timely manner.
    • Provide support to technical and engineering teams during maintenance or process interventions.
    • Operate machinery and vehicles on-site including forklifts and company vehicles (training provided if needed).
    • Take part in weighbridge and logistics tasks as required.

    About You:

    Essential:

    • Physically fit and confident working independently
    • Literate, numerate, and able to follow detailed procedures
    • Reliable, punctual, and adaptable to varying shift patterns
    • Computer literate with strong communication skills
    • Full UK Driving Licence
    • Willing to undertake training in manual handling, confined space entry, and other site-specific procedures

    Desirable:

    • Forklift Truck experience (though training can be provided)
    • Previous experience in a production, agricultural, or food manufacturing environment
